Family Programs

Goals for this fraternal year

  • Celebrate a Knights of Columbus week.
  • Support World-Wide marriage encounter.
  • Conduct an annual Marriage Vow renewal Program.
  • Adopt a needy family.
  • Conduct family oriented outings and trips.

 

Education

  • Invite non-Catholics to enjoy a tour of our church. Have council chaplain or pastor explain such points of interest as the baptismal font, Stations of the Cross, the sacristy, a display of the vestments and sacred vessels. Invite guests to stay for Mass, dinner or a social event. Encourage an exchange of information between guests and the council Chaplin or members.
  • Ensure members are aware of and participate in the variety of council sponsored programs.
  • Invite the Field Agent to meetings to explain the benefits of insurance through the Knights.

 

Communications

  • Provide newletters and other announcements to families.

 

Family of the Month/Year

  • Participate in the Order's "Family of the Month" and "Family of the Year" programs
  • Provide additional recognition to your "Family of the Month/Year" recipients in parish and council publications, bulletin boards.

 

Recreation

  • Host a "Ladies Night".
  • Plan a picnic, a summer kick-off weekend or day for council families. .

 

Survivors Assistance

  • Maintain contact with widows and dependent children of deceased members.
  • Extend to widows and their families any scholarships conducted by state and local councils. Remember the children of your deceased brothers. Include them in the youth activities of your council.

 

Memorials

  • Establish a memorials committee to attend wakes and funerals of brother Knights or their family members
  • Offer Masses for departed members and their families.
  • Sponsor an annual memorial Mass and Conmmunion.
  • Establish scholarships in memory of deceased members.
  • Urge enrollment of members for purgatorial Masses and offer spiritual bouquets for members and relatives.
  • Donate Knights of Columbus rosaries to families grieving the loss of a loved one. Offer Pastor to provide a rosary for each funeral wake service he officiates
