40 Days for Life

40 Days for Life is an international campaign of prayer and fasting held twice yearly to combat abortion. It combines three things: 40 days of prayer and fasting, daily peaceful vigil at an abortion facility, and community outreach. Over 150 cities are holding a campaign this fall that will run from Sept 22 to Oct 31. There have been wonderful results from this campaign - since 2007, over 2000 babies have been saved from abortion; 6 abortion mills have closed down; and 35 abortion workers have quit their jobs. Our local campaign will be at the new mega Planned Parenthood at 515 Newtown Rd, in Va Beach. For more information call Lew or Mary Cabral.

  • LIFE CHAIN

  • Held on Virginia Beach Blvd. and Independence on Oct. 10th (Respect Life Sunday) from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Life Chain is a one hour, nationwide time of prayer and public witness where Christians gather to stand along a public thoroughfare (Virginia Beach Blvd. and Independence.) We join with area churches as we prayerfuuly stand together for life, holding signs and proclaim the truth about abortion. We will stand with over 800 cities nationwide to uphold God's truth in our communities.

  • Crisis Pregnancy Banquet - Oct. 26th

  • The Banquet is held each year at the Chesapeake Convention Center with over 1,200 people attending. This annual event is sponsored by different groups and churches, St. John's was a sponsor last year for a table for 10 people. There is no charge to attend the banquet, but people are encourage to leave a donation afterward. This is a wonderful evening with great food, wonderful guest speakers delivering the message that there is help available for all women in a crisis pregnancy situation. Last year there were people who couldn't get in because the hall was filled to capacity, each year word of mouth makes this an event people do not want to miss.

The mission of Crisis Pregnancy is to defend life by supporting women and teens unprepared for pregnancy, bringing healing and wholeness to lives traumatized by abortion, and influecing and persuading those around us to follow Jesus Christ.

If anyone would like to be a table host, to invite 10 people to attend, or if anyone would just like to attend please call Mary or Lew Cabral for more information.

The Catholic Church teaches us that we are to respect life from the moment of conception to natural death. "Every person - no matter how vulnerable or helpless, no mtter how young or how old, no matter how healthy, handicapped or sick, no matter how useful or productive for society -- is a being of inestimable worth, created in the image and likeness of God." Pope John Paul II
